About Me

Hello! My name is Patrick Mullen. I am a computational astrophysicist working with Prof. Charles Gammie at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I am broadly interested in the origin of Earth’s Moon. I specialize in performing 3D numerical simulations that investigate the dynamical role of magnetic fields in the Moon-forming giant impact and in the early evolution of the protolunar disk. Outside of astrophysics, I love hiking, reading fantasy, playing volleyball/baseball, cooking, and hanging out with @melvin_the_ginger.
